Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a record player
Which record player is best for beginners?
If you're looking for your first turntable, ease of use is often desirable. With built-in speakers and an amplifier, all you need to do is plug the turntable into an outlet. You can also consider your budget: our Voyager and Cruiser turntables are entry-level models at a competitive price. If you have a bit more budget to spend, the Stave is a great option: it still offers the convenience of a built-in speaker, but with a much more powerful speaker and a high-quality needle. All our record players with external speakers are also plug and play.
Which record player should I buy?
Start with where and how you will listen. For a compact player you can take from room to room, choose a suitcase record player. For fuller sound in your living room, choose a record player with separate speakers.
When you're short on space but don't want to compromise on sound, Go for the Stave or E100. Already own a stereo system or active speakers? Then pick a model with an RCA output so you can connect it.
Which features matter most when choosing a record player?
Check which speeds it plays (33⅓, 45 and/or 78 RPM), whether it has built-in or external speakers (and check the power of the speakers), if it has Bluetooth in, Bluetooth out, or both. Bluetooth in lets you stream music to the player, Bluetooth out play your records through wireless speakers or headphones. An RCA or headphone output, a dust cover and the quality of the needle are also useful to look for.
Which record player is most popular?
The Voyager is the most populair in the Suitcase record player category. Customers love them for their easy set-up, built-in speakers, Bluetooth in and out and the wide choice of colors.
The Stave is very populair as a step up record player because of the rich roomfilling sound, beautiful walnut finish and golden tones and easy set-up.
For the record players with external speakers, the C62 is bestselling because of its great price/ quality ratio and the C65 + c72 in quality and looks.
Are Crosley record players suitable for daily use?
Yes! You can use Crosley record players every day, whether you're spinning records or using the record player as a speaker to stream your music. It's important to keep the needle and the record free of dust, which you can do with a cleaning kit. It's also a good idea to replace the needle from time to time.
Is the sound quality good on a suitcase turntable?
The sound from our entry-level models is fairly basic, but you can always boost it further by connecting an external speaker, wired or wirelessly.
If you're looking for a turntable with a built-in speaker that delivers premium sound, the Stave is a great choice. Its turntable platform floats above the speaker, allowing the speaker to be much more powerful than other built-in speakers, without the needle skipping from heavy bass vibrations.
If you'd prefer a sturdy, all-in-one turntable rather than one with a floating platform, paired with high-quality speakers, your best bet is our collection of turntables with external speakers.
What are the advantages of an all-in-one record player?
An all-in-one record player is easy to set up, takes up little space and needs few cables. Many models are portable and less expensive than a separate turntable, amplifier and speakers. Some of our all-in-one entertainment centres also include a radio, CD player or cassette player.
Choosing a CD or cassette player
What should I look for when buying a CD player?
Decide whether you want a portable player with headphones, or a player with built-in speakers for at home. Also check the connections: a headphone jack, an AUX or line output and Bluetooth make it easier to use with other equipment. see our CD players.
What is a good entry-level CD player?
A compact CD player with built-in speakers or a headphone output is a good place to start: easy to use and ready to play straight away. Browse our CD players to compare the current models.
Can I connect a CD player to speakers or other audio equipment?
Yes, as long as the CD player has an output. Use the headphone or line output to connect it to active speakers or an amplifier. Models with Bluetooth can also play through wireless speakers or headphones. Check the product page to see which connections your model has.
What should I look for when buying a cassette player?
Check whether you only want to play tapes or also record them, and whether you need built-in speakers, a headphone jack or a radio. For digitising tapes, look for a model with a USB or line output. See our cassette players.
How do I maintain my cassette player?
Clean the tape head, capstan and pinch roller about every 20 hours of use. Use a cotton swab with a little isopropyl alcohol, and let everything dry before you play a tape again. Keep the player free of dust and store your cassettes away from heat and magnets.
Why do I hear static or hissing when I play a cassette?
This is usually caused by a dirty tape head. Clean the tape head as described above. If the hissing stays, try another cassette: old or worn tapes can also cause noise.
Connecting, Bluetooth and streaming
Can I connect a Crosley record player to external speakers?
You can connect Crosley turntables to external speakers in several ways. If the turntable has a Bluetooth-out function, a wireless connection can be made with an external Bluetooth speaker. Otherwise, the turntable can always be connected to an external speaker with an RCA cable. Unfortunately, Crosley turntables cannot be connected to a Wi-Fi network, so it's not possible to listen on multiple Sonos speakers.
How does the Bluetooth on a Crosley record player work?
We have 2 types of Bluetooth on our record players. (Note: not every record player has both Bluetooth options: check the specifications carefully.) Bluetooth-in means you can connect your smartphone via Bluetooth, so you can use the record player's speakers for your digital music. Bluetooth-out means you can connect the record player to an external Bluetooth speaker, for even richer sound.
Can I connect my record player to wireless speakers?
Yes, if your record player has Bluetooth out. Put your speaker or headphones in pairing mode, switch the record player to Bluetooth out and select the device. If your player does not have Bluetooth out, you can use the RCA output. Crosley Record players are not connectable through Wifi
Can I stream music to my record player?
Yes, if your record player has Bluetooth in. Switch the player to Bluetooth mode, select it in the Bluetooth settings of your phone or tablet, and play your music. The sound comes through the speakers of the record player.

Using your record player
How does a Crosley record player work?
All our record players are very easy to use. All you need to do is plug it into an outlet. For record players with external speakers, you'll need to connect the external speakers to the record player using the included cable. If you want to play a record, select the 'phono' option; if you want to stream from your phone, select 'bluetooth'. This is generally how a Crosley record player works, each model of course comes with its own manual, which can also be downloaded on the product pages.
Can Crosley turntables play 7, 10 and 12-inch records?
Yes, all Crosley turntables play 7, 10 and 12-inch records. For 7-inch singles with a large centre hole, use the 45 RPM adapter that comes with your player. Most models play 33⅓, 45 and 78 RPM; the product page shows which speeds your model supports.
What is the difference between 33⅓, 45 and 78 RPM records?
RPM stands for revolutions per minute: how many times the record turns in one minute. LPs (12-inch) usually play at 33⅓ RPM, singles (7-inch) at 45 RPM, and old shellac records at 78 RPM. The speed is usually printed on the label or the sleeve.
Why doesn't the tonearm return automatically at the end of a record?
Crosley record players have a manual tonearm. At the end of the record, the platter stops (or keeps turning, depending on the model), but the tonearm stays where it is. Lift the tonearm with the cue lever and place it back on its rest by hand.
Troubleshooting
My record player won't turn on. What should I do?
Check that the power adapter is firmly connected to the player and to a working wall socket; try another socket to be sure. Make sure you are using the original adapter, as an adapter with the wrong voltage can prevent the player from starting. Still nothing? Send an email to service@crosleyradio.eu with your order number and a short video.
My turntable won't spin. How do I fix it?
Check that the power is on and the function switch is set to PHONO, and that a speed (33⅓, 45 or 78) is selected. On many models, the platter only starts turning once you move the tonearm towards the record. If it still doesn't turn, unplug the power for 15 to 20 minutes and try again. Then check whether the belt is still in place; our tutorials show how to replace it. If it's still not working after following these steps, please send an email to service@crosleyradio.eu
The record is playing, but there's no sound. What's wrong?
First remove the protective cover from the needle at the end of the tonearm. Check that the needle itself did not come off with the cover. Then make sure the player is set to PHONO and turn up the volume.
Why does the needle slide across the record?
The protective needle cover is probably still on, or the needle came off when the cover was removed. Check the end of the tonearm: the needle should be in place and pointing down. Also make sure the player stands on a flat, level surface.
Why does the needle skip or the sound crackle?
A little crackle is part of the vinyl sound, but skipping usually has a clear cause. Clean your record and the needle with a stylus brush, and make sure the player stands on a stable, level surface away from vibrations. A worn needle also causes skipping and crackling, so replace it if it is old.
Why is my turntable playing too fast or too slow?
Check that the right speed is selected for your record. If your model has a pitch control, use it to fine-tune the speed. If the speed keeps changing or the player runs too slowly, the belt is probably worn and needs to be replaced.
The platter wobbles or moves up and down. Is my player faulty?
Not necessarily. Some of the platters are intentionally loosely mounted, so that bass from the speakers doesn't make the stylus vibrate along with it. First check that the platter is seated correctly on the spindle and the player stands level. A wobble combined with speed problems is usually caused by a worn or loose belt, which you can replace yourself. If the wobble affects the sound and a new belt doesn't help, send a short video to service@crosleyradio.eu.
The tonearm lift is stuck. What should I do?
Check that all transport protection has been removed, such as a tie or tape around the tonearm, as well as the tonearm clip. Then gently move the cue lever up and down a few times. Never force the tonearm. If the lift still doesn't move, send a short video to service@crosleyradio.eu and we will help you further.
Maintenance, spare parts and accessories
When should I replace the needle?
A needle lasts up to 1,000 hours of playing time, depending on the condition of your records. Replace it sooner if you hear distortion, more crackle than usual, or if the needle starts to skip. Clean it regularly with a stylus brush to remove dust. Replacement needles are available in our spare parts collection, and our tutorials show how to fit them.
Which replacement belt do I need?
The right belt depends on your model. You can find the model name on the bottom or back of your player. Each belt in our spare parts collection lists the models it fits. Not sure? Email us your model and we will tell you which one you need. Belts and needles wear with use and need to be replaced from time to time.
Which replacement power adapter fits my player, and what voltage should it have?
Always use an adapter with the same voltage, current and plug as the original. You can find these values on the label of the original adapter or on the bottom of your player. Check our spare parts collection for a matching adapter, or email us your model. An adapter with the wrong voltage can damage your player.
Can I buy spare parts, such as a counterweight?
Yes. Needles, belts and adapters are available in our spare parts collection. Need another part, such as a counterweight? Email service@crosleyradio.eu with your model name, and we will check whether we can supply it.
How do I get a 45 RPM adapter if it wasn't in the box?
Send an email to service@crosleyradio.eu with your order number, and we will help you get one.
Returns, warranty and repairs
Can I return a product if I simply don't like it?
Yes, within 30 days of purchase. The product and its packaging must be in their original, resaleable condition, with all accessories included. Email service@crosleyradio.eu and we will send you a return label; the cost of the label is deducted from your refund. Once we have checked your return, we refund you within 30 days. Unwanted belts, needles and adapters cannot be returned.
My order arrived damaged. How do I get a replacement?
We're sorry to hear that. Email service@crosleyradio.eu within 30 days of purchase with your order number and photos or a video of the damage, including the box. Our service team checks your request within 2 to 3 working days. Once approved, we send you a return label and a replacement, or refund you if you prefer.
My player stopped working after only a few uses. Is it covered by the warranty?
Yes. All Crosley products come with a 2-year warranty. Within the first 30 days you can choose a replacement or a refund; from day 31 up to 2 years we repair the product. Email service@crosleyradio.eu with your order number and a short video of the problem. The warranty does not cover damage caused by use or normal wear, such as a worn needle.
If my product is faulty, can I choose between a refund and a replacement?
Within 30 days of purchase, you can choose a refund or a replacement. After 30 days and up to 2 years, we repair the product under warranty.
How do I start a warranty repair, and what information do you need?
Email service@crosleyradio.eu with your order number, the model, a short description of the problem and a photo or video that shows it. Our service team checks your request within 2 to 3 working days. Once approved, you receive an RMA number and a return label.
Should I send the speakers and other accessories along with the turntable?
For a return because you changed your mind, send everything back: the manual, power adapter, cables, 45 RPM adapter, slipmat and any speakers. For a repair, our service team will tell you which parts to send. If in doubt, ask us before you ship.
Do I need the original box, and how should I pack the item?
Use the original shipping box if you still have it, or another sturdy box that protects the product just as well. Never send the product in its printed retail box alone. Wrap it well and fill any empty space, so nothing can move during transport.
Where should I put the RMA number on my return?
Write the RMA number clearly on the outside of the box, and put a note with the RMA number and your order number inside the package. This helps us link your return to your request quickly.
How do I get my return label?
Email service@crosleyradio.eu. Once your return is approved, we email you a DHL, GLS or FedEx label. Print it and stick it on the box.
There's no drop-off point for your carrier near me. Can I use another carrier or arrange a pickup?
Please contact us before you ship. We will look for a solution, such as a label from another carrier or a pickup at your address. Do not send your return with another carrier without our approval, as we cannot track it.
What is the status of my repair, and when will I get my item back?
We email you when your return has arrived. The repair time depends on the problem and the parts needed; we keep you informed by email. Once your product is repaired or replaced, we send it back with a new Track & Trace code.
