The vinyl discography of the Italian band Måneskin
The Italian rock band Måneskin had a great 2021. They’ve won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 and after that their success expanded internationally. The group was even named best rock band at the MTV European Music Awards 2021. Check out this blog to find out about the origin of the band and which records they released on vinyl.
Måneskin was founded in Rome in 2016 by Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis and Thomas Raggi. They knew each other from high school. The rock band didn't have a drummer at that point. Soon they found Ethan Torchio through a Facebook group that was filled with emerging musicians from Rome. When the four members came together they started making music on the streets in the big city of Italy.
The band's name was created by Victoria. Her mother is from Denmark and Victoria thought of the Danish word for Moonshine "Måneskin". Fun fact: Måneskin became known in 2017 for finishing second on the X Factor's 11th season. From 2017 the group released one EP and two albums: their EP “Chosen” was released in 2017, In 2018 the debut album “Il ballo della vita” came out and in 2021 “Teatro d'ira - Vol. I”.
The group gained even more fame in the summer of 2021 after winning the Eurovision Song Contest. The cover “Beggin” from their X Factor period became a worldwide hit and spent weeks in the top 10 of the global Spotify chart.
VinylManeskin understands the love for vinyl and that’s why even their first EP “Chosen” came out on vinyl. The EP features several covers performed during the eleventh season of X Factor Italia. After the success of the Eurovision Song Contest, the rock cover "beggin" (The Four Seasons) became the most popular song on the record outside of Italy.
The band's first album “Il ballo della vita” (Translated: 'The dance of life') was released on October 29, 2018. The album peaked at number one in the Italian albums chart. My personal favorite from this album is “Morirò da re”. Because it’s in Italian and a nice song to dance on!
“Teatro d'ira: Vol.” is their second studio album. After Måneskin's victory during the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with "Zitti e buoni", the album appeared in the weekly charts across Europe. It reached number one on the Finnish, Lithuanian and Swedish album charts. All the current hits like "Vent'anni" and the Sanremo and Eurovision-winning "Zitti e buoni", "I Wanna Be Your Slave" and "Coraline" are featured on this album.
